The mastering of acro is one that will help your child’s chances in the industry and will improve their ability to hang out, upside down!
- Ballet – At KIO Dance Studios in East Lansing, we offer a variety of ballet classes for all age groups and skill levels. Ballet is a fun, beautiful, and disciplined dance style that many people grow to love. Whether your child is young and new to the dance or has been practicing ballet for years, we have a class that will be perfect for them! We offer our ballet classes for children from five years old to 19 years old. Learn more about our ballet classes and be sure to contact us with any questions!
- Musical Theatre Jazz – Dancers will explore the various dance styles used in Broadway shows. Ballet and jazz dance technique will be used in class. Emphasis will also be placed on learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and telling a story through dance and facial expressions.
- Jazz – One of the most classic forms of dance, jazz is a high-energy class in which you or your child will learn progressions and overall dance technique. Getting to learn some of the foundational skills is essential to helping them grow as a dancer. Seeing as how this form of dance applies to so many other types of dance, these courses are an excellent option to try. Find some additional information on the jazz dance classes offered at KIO Dance Studios below!.
- Jazz/Acro – Strong emphasis on technical execution of leaps, jumps, turns, kicks and motions; there are flowing movements with extension, control and body placement along with acrobatic elements.
- Hip Hop – When you listen to hip-hop music, it’s hard to do anything but dance. Dancing to hip-hop is so much fun, but from a technical standpoint, it takes a lot of skill, practice, and talent. We offer a number of hip-hop classes for dancers of all abilities to enjoy. From newbie hip-hop to junior classes, to more advanced courses, today is the perfect day for you to register for a hip-hop dance class.
- Pom Pom – Dancers use pom poms and moves that are choreographed to include pom poms. Choreography is usually jazz or hip hop driven.
- Lyrical – A combination of ballet and jazz, lyrical dance is at a tempo right in between — a bit faster than ballet, and a bit slower than jazz. The technique in lyrical focuses on creating beautiful lines, through thinking about leg positioning and the overall picture of a dancer while they’re performing. In this class, instructors from our dance studio teach proper technique and movement, as well as train in the art of performance.
- Contemporary – Expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Connection of the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. Contemporary dance stresses versatility and improvisation. Contemporary dance can be performed to many different styles of music.
- Tap – Tap is one of the oldest styles of dance and is fundamental in any dancer. Tap helps a dancer establish rhythm and it brings a connection from your head all the way down to your toes. If you’ve ever tapped your foot to your favorite song, there is a tapper in you!
