KIO Competitive Dance General Information 2025-2026
If you are interested in taking your dancing to the next level, then we recommend that you evaluate for our KIO Dance Studio Competition team. You will make new friends AND learn the value of teamwork.
Our instructors are all top-level performers and dancers and have a passion to help you achieve your dreams with dance. Our team competes at various competitions regionally/nationally and attends dance conventions.
Dancers ages 5-18 that evaluate receive placements in the appropriate groups per your level of dancing.

The following fees will be collected at the time of evaluation check-in:
- Team Season Registration Fee:
• 1 student: $25
• 2 students (same household): $45
• 3 students (same household): $60
• Each additional student beyond three (same household): +$10
This fee covers administrative costs and one team gift per dancer. - Evaluation Fee:
• $30 per dancer
Covers administrative and instructor support costs during evaluations. - Media Fee
• $50 per family (includes online recital streaming + one recital gift)
• $10 per additional family member (extra gift)
What’s New This Season: All will be discussed at the competitive team parent meeting on June 6th 6:30-7:30 (on the BAND calendar) *If you are interested in our competitive program please come join us on June 6th and hear more about what our competitive team is all about.
Updated Team Levels
We’re introducing three team levels this year: Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3—with Level 3 designed for our most technically advanced dancers.
Early Access to the Schedule
Families will be able to view the upcoming team schedule before evaluations, helping you make informed decisions about participation.
Required Line Routines
All competitive dancers will take part in two large-group “line” routines (20+ dancers) this season—promoting team unity and stage presence.
New Solo Opportunities for Seniors
Dancers entering their senior year of high school may now be eligible to compete up to two solos, with teacher recommendation.
Choreography Involvement for Older Dancers
Senior dancers (ages 15–19) may be invited to assist with choreography sessions. These are voluntary and will take place over the summer and after regular class hours perfect for dancers interested in creative leadership.

We’re excited to introduce a new track for dancers who have graduated but want to continue training and performing. Stay tuned for more information!
- Working with, respecting teammates, director, and instructors are important for success.
- Hard work and dedication are necessary for a well-rounded teammate.
- Performing in front of an audience can be fun and help with building confidence.
- Gracefully receiving feedback is necessary and using that feedback for all around improvement is important.
- Appreciation for dance as an art and understanding the competition experience is about growing as a dancer through experience, skill, and maturity.
- Practice makes progress; no two dancers will progress the same.
- Displaying sportsmanlike conduct is important at all times.
- Dance team experience translates into valuable life skills & helps to form relationships that will last a lifetime!
